Saint Luke

Since many have undertaken to set down an orderly account of the events that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed on to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word, I too decided, after investigating everything carefully from the very first, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the truth concerning the things about which you have been instructed. Luke 1:1-4 (NRSV)

Dear Gracious and ever loving God
who inspired Saint Luke to write
who encourages us all to tell
the love you have placed within us.

We live in times of false narratives
when some would control all words
    when violence and illness surround
yet there is good news to be shared.

Saint Luke lived in troubled times
    violence and oppression the rule
yet your love was a beacon of hope
a light for all the suffering people.

Let us be beacons of hope in our time
help us to tell love's wondrous stroy
make us your storytellers and healers
so that our world might know your love now. Amen
