Healing

Jesus went down to Capernaum, a city in Galilee, and was teaching them on the sabbath. They were astounded at his teaching, because he spoke with authority. In the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, “Let us alone! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God.” But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” When the demon had thrown him down before them, he came out of him without having done him any harm. They were all amazed and kept saying to one another, “What kind of utterance is this? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and out they come!” And a report about him began to reach every place in the region. Luke 4:31-37

Yesterday was a long day spent in the hospital, waiting and waiting and waiting some more. I knew I was never alone though, surrounded with the prayers of so many. We are home now and the patient is resting, and I am hoping for the strength to do what needs to be done. And, I am bolstered, moment by moment, by the prayers and love from faithful friends. I am comforted by a God, who took away the demons harming a child. returning whole to a loving parent.

Gracious Creator, as the day ends
we seek your healing for all suffering
you are the source of all healing
and you seek to bring us back whole.

The seasons are turning and we change
yet you, Creator, are always constant
abounding in great love and healing
which is for everyone in every time.

Help us to lean on you in all our trials
give us the strength to admit our weakness
help us to offer all our needs to you
so that we might know your love today. Amen.
