Rooted - General Convention Day 2

‘From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Matthew 24:32-35

We gathered and heard powerful words from our Presiding Bishop and then got tangled up in technology - or lack thereof. We found a way through a got through some legislation, along with hearing powerful testimony. I am aware of the anxieties and tensions that surround us on all sides. Yet we are rooted in a strong, secure tree, a community that is shaded and fed by the love of God. We are promised that we are embedded in the heart of God, and the Incarnate Word, which is love will never cease.

Loving Creator, we are rooted in you
fed and cherished as beloved children
you shade us and feed us for the work ahead.
Help us to trust in your word and live love
let your compassion and patience be our guide
and let none of us put ourselves first today. Amen.
