Creative and encouraging reflection and conversation about life, family, faith and laughter. I offer these reflections and prayers as an invitation for us all to pray in these times. May we pray for one another and for the whole world together.

No Doubt
As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots. And Peter remembered and said to him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered.” And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” Mark 11:20-25
No Doubt
On this Monday Holy Week
wondering why so much pain
praying for relief and direction
a world of hopes and healing
whispered prayerfully
morning by morning and into
the deep darkness of the night.
So much has withered and grown old
too much seems beyond repair
the green grass of summer is long gone
and the stormy winds blow off the ocean
power and destruction so near at hand.
A cursed fig tree reminds us all
that God hears and responds
the heart without doubt
the prayers full of forgiveness
we can move mountains
with heart overflowing with faith.
A sacred journey begins today
an emptying and renewing
a walk of passion, violence and forgiveness
an ancient story renewed within us
God sacrificing all to live
in our hearts.
I will sweep the doubt away
it crept in while I was hurting and sad
took root while lonely and afraid
taking food and safety from the hands
of love, compassion and forgiveness.
Make my heart clean again this day
Dear God, fill me with compassion and service
drive away the doubts and fears
and make this a holy journey
a holy week of making room
for resurrection, a new life
of sacrifice and forgiveness
a life with no room for doubt.
